GRAND OPENING OF THE
FALLING WATERS TRAIL
On May 9, 2008, we will be hosting the grand Opening of the Falling Waters Trail. Ceremonies will be held on the trail at Lime Lake with information booths, free t-shirts (to the first 500 attendees), and a great opportunity to get out on the trail. Governor Granholm has been invited to speak, along with other community leaders who have supported this trail.

Activities will be held at Concord in conjunction with those at Lime Lake. Bike, skate walk or run from Weatherwax Road to Lime Lake, from Concord to Lime Lake or meet us at Lime Lake (follow signs for parking)

Ceremonies will begin at 11:00 at Lime Lake, and will then spread throughout the rest of the trail to Concord. Come and help us celebrate and enjoy the grand opening of the newest county park in Jackson County!

TRAIL SAFETY
ADOPT-A-TRAIL (ADOPT-A-MILE)

Now it the time for our community to take ownership of our new county park-the Falling Waters Trail.

The Dahlem Center is organizing an adopt-a-mile program and is inviting companies, non-profit, and other groups to make a commitment for cleaning up a mile segment of the trail on a regular basis.

We are seeking 3 to 5 year commitments for this important project. If you are interested or know a group or organization that would be interested - please contact Kathi Bigelow by phone at 787-9442 or by email as bsbigelow@comcast.net

EARTH DAY EVENT

On Sunday April 20th from 1-4pm the Jackson Area Outdoor Coalition will celebrate Earth Day with activities for the whole family.

This will be held at the Cascades Park pavilion. Activities will include kayaking and canoeing in the lagoons, geocaching, bird house building by the Dahlem Center, birding hikes with the Audubon Society, storytelling and many other activities. This is a free event!

The Falling Waters Trail group will be working with the Fitness Council on their reCycling bike project.

Have you outgrown your bike, getting a new bike to enjoy the trail, or just have a bike no one is using? Bring it down to the park and we will put it to good use!

Please report vandalism to the County Park at 768-2917 or by email bransom@co.jackson.mi.us
