In order to succeed in any event that requires physical and mental endurance, adequate training and preparation must be the first acts taken. Below are a number of links and descriptions that will offer you many options in preparing for your event. I am a firm believer in two things.
First, know that you are in shape to conduct the physical activities that you have set as your goals.
Second, make decisions that work good for you. Do this by reading from many resources, keep an open mind, and use the various suggestions that you read. Through practice and training, you will become the athlete you set out to be or more.

Jeff Galloway - Jeff has many articles published in Runners World magazine. He offers good sense suggestions on running and staying injury-free. Jeff's personal website offers some great advise for training. He even offers personal training opportunities. Boston Marathon - If you are interested in using the Wild Life Marathon to qualify for the Boston Marathon, you might be interested in looking at their training suggestions. Marathon Training - Talk about a lot of information for nothing more than navigating around this website. Under the Marathon page, there are links to all kinds of practical information on training and health. Runners World - I have been a subscriber to their magazine for many years. Their articles are informative and useful regardless if you are an elite running athlete or a beginning runner. I often use their online features for building a training plan, and to record my workouts. Many of the features are free to those who register with the website. They also offer premium plans. MapMyRuns - This is one web site that I do have a paid subscription to. It is a great site for creating routes. This is where I created the routes for the Wild Life Marathon that visitors can go review on my Routes link. Marathon Finish - Here is another site that I stumbled across. It offers Week by Week training for a marathon for beginning, intermediate, and experienced runners. Marathon Training Schedule - This site offers something for runners of different length events. It offers some worthwhile tips. Opinions are by Tim Payne - Wild Life Marathon Director. If you would like to suggest a website, please send your suggestions to me at marathondirector@fallingwatertrail.org. |
